Poet=Verb Week Recap
To be honest, the week is slightly stalled, but I think that’s okay. I started off strong: Monday and Tuesday I took pictures, and on Wednesday I wrote the beginning of my Raven Awards story for our annual Halloween bash.
Then Thursday, I went off the program. But with good reason. See, Aaron and I went to see Neil Gaiman read in St. Paul. It’s only the second time I’ve seen him read in person, but it was so worth it. He was reading from his new book, The Graveyard Book, and it was quite good. Even though he read the last chapter, I still got a sense of the book without having the whole plot ruined. And he answered a bunch of questions, including the requisite writer’s block questions. (He gets it too. Whew!) So that was yesterday.
And today? Work all day, from early morning until 7:00 and I’m practically too tired to type. But I did fit in a word over at the RWP collaborative prompt, which I’m saying counts as writing. It was a good word — alleys. I may even pop back over to add another word. We were hanging on a preposition (”of”) last time I checked.
So, I’m calling the Poet is a Verb week a minor success. I’m going to try to squeeze in some writing on Saturday and Sunday, and maybe even extend into next week. It feels good to force myself to write.
We are on beyond “of” now. Whew. I was worried we’d be left hanging there.
Hi.
You are inspiring me.
And crap. You saw Gaiman. Now I am jealous.
