UnConventional Art
As you may have heard, the Republican National Convention is descending into the Twin Cities today. As a counter to the event, Minneapolis art organization Intermedia Arts is organizing a series of events called UnConvention. UnConvention events include Political Karaoke, a parade that took place on Saturday in downtown Minneapolis, and an art installation at the Walker Sculpture Garden that Soulless Machine and I walked through this morning.
The installation is called “My Yard, Our Message,” and it is the culmination of an art contest. Artists created political yard signs and then viewers voted on the 50 top favorites. Soulless Machine and I didn’t know it was part of the Unconvention when we stumbled upon the signs during our morning walk, so it was a nice surprise to find it.
